Black and Yellow Polka Dot

I delivered this cake for a wedding open-house last night. The flavors included white with buttercream and fresh strawberries, and chocolate with chocolate ganache. It was a beautiful open house, but once again, my camera wouldn't take a very good photo. You can't even see the beautiful stand the cake sat on. Oh well. :)

Christmas Whimsy Cake

I was asked to make a cake to go along with a Dr. Seuss, Grinch theme. This is what I came up with. The inside was chocolate with chocolate frosting. I was so excited to use my new cake stand!!!

Red and Black Wedding Cake

***Updated Photo thanks to the fabulous photography skills of Steve Horne! It's amazing how much better they look! :)

I wasn't able to get very good photos of this wedding cake, but the photographer promised me a good one! ;) It looks tilted in the picture, but I promise it stood straight. :)

This wedding cake was covered completely with white fondant and accented with fresh flowers (which the family provided). Flavors included white cake with buttercream and fresh strawberries, chocolate with ganache filling, and white cake with lemon curd and lemon buttercream. The couple also ordered additional sheet cakes! It was a busy weekend! :)

Orange and Yellow Wedding Cake

I finished this orange and yellow cake for a wedding open house this weekend. The couple did a great job choosing the design. Flavors included strawberry cake with buttercream and strawberry preserve filling, yellow cake with lemon buttercream and lemon curd filling, and yellow cake with chocolate buttercream. I was very pleased with the result!

Baby Blue and Chocolate Dots

This cake was for a baby shower. The top layer was white cake with lemon curd, and lemon buttercream, and the bottom layer was chocolate with chocolate buttercream. All topped off with a big chocolate bow! :) Again, not the best picture - I was in a hurry.

Pink and Purple Polka Dot

This small cake was for a little girl's birthday party. The inside was strawberry cake with buttercream frosting! Yummy!

Yellow with Daisies

This spring cake was for a bridal shower. The idea came from this cake out of Martha Stewart's Wedding Cakes book (so much inspiration in that book!). It was a white cake with lemon curd filling, frosted with lemon buttercream. This was my first attempt at gum-paste flowers. I know these daisies are basic, but now I'm feeling ready to try more difficult flowers! :)

Dino-mite!

This cute cake was for a 1 year old's birthday party! It was the perfect size for a smash cake! The inside was carrot cake with buttercream frosting.

Brown and Yellow Topsy Turvy

It was a busy weekend to complete 2 cakes for Saturday! The first was for an 8 year old boy! His favorite colors were brown, yellow, and orange. The top layer was yellow cake with chocolate buttercream, the middle layer was marble cake with chocolate buttercream, and the bottom layer was chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream! That's A LOT of cake! :) I felt bad because I didn't get a very good picture of it. The lighting was too dark.

Choo Choo

The second cake was for a 2 year old's birthday! The party theme was trains! Both layers were white cake with regular buttercream. My favorite parts of this cake are the smoke puffs! :)

Let It Snow!

We spent Christmas this year with my in-laws. Included in the many festivities was a talent show, so to contribute, I made a cake. It was a simple one, however, being away from my kitchen and many of my tools made it difficult to do anything but something simplistic! :) The cake was French Vanilla with buttercream frosting.
